World Trade Organisation

Summaryof World TradeOrganization (WTO)

What is World Trade Organization?

The World Trade Organization from my point of view is the only global international organization dealing with the rules governing trade between countries. The objective of WTO is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct their business.
Some of the principles of the WTO are:
  • Implement a system based on fair rules, fair and open.
  • Liberalizing and phase out tariffs and non tariff barriers.
  • Reject protectionism, etc.
Advantages and Disadvantages of World Trade Organization (WTO)
Advantages of WTO
World Trade Organization helps member states in various ways and this enables them to reap benefits such as:

  • The system of WTO helps to keep the peace
This is advantages and a benefit of WTO, because the system of WTO helps to the countries to solve your trade issues peacefully.
  • The freer trade cuts the cost of living
The WTO contributes to reduce the cost of production, the price of the products and services finished and therefore reduce the cost of the living (because the imports used in production are cheaper).

  • Trade raises incomes
Lowering trade barriers allows trade to increase, which adds to incomes national incomes and personal incomes.
Disadvantages of WTO

  • The WTO Is Fundamentally Undemocratic
The policies of the WTO impact all aspects of society and the planet, but it is not a democratic, transparent institution. The WTO rules are written by and for corporations with inside access to the negotiations. Citizen input by consumer, environmental, human rights and labour organizations is consistently ignored.

  • The WTO Will Not Make Us Safer
The WTO would like you to believe that creating a world of "free trade" will promote global understanding and peace. On the contrary, the domination of international trade by rich countries for the benefit of their individual interests fuels anger and resentment that make us less safe.

  • The WTO is believed to be funding terrorism
Many WTO leaders have admitted to providing terrorists with money for weapons.
